Hi! I’m Liz Campanello and I’m the baker at The Side Cake. I have been passionate about food since I was a child; my Italian grandmother and great-aunts helped me to hone my skills at a young age.

After a few decades of “normal” baking I suddenly and inexplicably became allergic to wheat and peanuts. Suddenly social events became strained affairs; no birthday cupcakes, no slices of gorgeous wedding cake, all hosts slightly offended.

Unable to bake the classic way I decided to learn how to make delicious cakes for all allergy-ridden folks.

The Side Cake is the place in Michiana to get a cake that is Gluten-free, Vegan, Nut-free, Dairy-free or any combination required. The home bakery is 100% gluten and peanut free. I want to make it easy to be inclusive for all special events, even if it’s just a single person to consider!

The Side Cake’s mission is to get a small but amazing allergy-friendly cake on the table for every event.
